A thumb rule when you travel – Yummy food to keep you in a good mood!

It is Day 55 of the Lockdown! We have missed two potential trips – one to Rishikesh and another to Chopta during this period however , there are a lot of other things that have assumed priority, for instance – COOKING! I am thoroughly enjoying trying my hand at baking some exotic cakes, fixing new salads and the art of plating. This is when I realized that TRAVEL & FOOD go hand in hand like Idli & Sambar or like Garlic bread  & Cheese!

I decided to pen down the food that we have loved during all our trips.So ta-ta-da , here is my list ( in no particular order ):

KESAR DA DABBA, AMRITSAR

A simple restaurant offering yummylicious food. The paneer( cottage cheese ) varieties , the paratha varieties and the lassi are to die for. Dig into the food guilt free because it is worth it and a few extra calories wouldn’t hurt so much!

HAFIZ MUSTAFA, ISTANBUL

Home to the most authentic Baklawa in Turkey. Baklawa is a dessert made of several layers of flour and filled with chopped nuts, chocolate and even dry fruits. A single bite is enough to make you fall in love with this delicacy that literally melts in your mouth!

 

 

HEALTHY STREET FOOD, PHUKET

I know that the title seems misleading but hear me out! Being vegetarian and also being someone who inherently possesses a very low tolerance to spicy food, the variety of fruits saved me during our trip to Phuket. Dragon fruit, the mini pineapples , green apples, kiwi, tangerine all soaked in coconut water – just the idea of this makes me salivate even now!22540037_2004943406408321_5036887001448915607_n

DHANRAJ RANMAL BHATIA, JAISALMER

A modest store in Bhatia Street – Dhanraj Ranmal Bhatia boasts of the best and the  most unique Besan ki Laddoo that literally melts in your mouth. Just the aroma will ensure that your diet plans go flying out of the window. FALAFEL@ALEXANDRIA , EGYPT]]

Falafel is a patty made of chickpeas , green chilles and salt. During our trip to Alexandria in Egypt, we devoured on falafels stuffed in pita pockets on a bed of raw onions, tomatoes, lettuce  and coriander seeds. The shop we visited was modest in size but known to serve the best and most authentic Falafel wraps. The view of the Mediterranean sea added to the taste!

CHEESE FONDU & CARROT CAKE WITH CREAM CHEESE FROSTING@INTERLAKEN, SWITZERLAND

Our first trip together – SWITZERLAND and our first stop had to be a dessert shop to get a bite of the famous swiss fondue. One mouthful and I knew I had to return home walking to burn all those sinful calories:-) European desserts are rich but so worth it.            WHEN YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG DO IT RIGHT! Keeping this in mind we binged on a generous portion carrot  with a subtle cinnamon flavour and topped with the yummiest cream cheese frosting! The flavours are still fresh in my mouth even as I type!

CHURROS@ DISNEYLAND, FLORIDA

Churro is a deep fried dough pastry shaped like a stick.There is something about the churros served at Disneyland – there is magic in it too! It is served with a thick chocolate sauce  – YUMMMMMM!
